SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION FOR SCARS

Have you ever wondered, how can I cover up scars on my scalp? You’re in luck because there is something you can do for those unsightly marks with scalp micropigmentation (SMP). If you have FUT hair transplant scars, then you may be a great candidate for scalp micropigmentation for scars. In many cases, people that have had either the FUT (follicular unit transportation) or the FUE (follicular unit extraction) end up with significant scars on the back of their heads. A scalp scar doesn’t have to be something that you need to live with and can’t do anything about. FUT scarring is pretty common, but with SMP scar repair, those marks will be much less noticeable. Or you may not be able to notice them at all with the best in scar micropigmentation.

Scalp micropigmentation is a process in which a technician tattoos tiny dots on the scalp, creating the illusion of a fuller head of hair. SMP for thinning hair is less invasive than getting a hair transplant and requires no downtime. Most people need two to four SMP micropigmentation density procedures to achieve their desired look. While scalp micropigmentation for thinning hair is not a permanent procedure, the effects can last for years.

A Little About Hair Transplant Types

As we mentioned before, there are two different types of popular hair transplants. Only one will end up needing SMP scar repair or a hair transplant scar cover up. The first type of hair transplant is FUT or follicular unit transportation, and FUT hair transplant scars are created after a thin strip of hair is transplanted from the back of your scalp to the place in the front that needs to regrow the hair. The FUT scarring ends up being several inches long at least. Plus, many people who end up with this type of scalp scar feel self-conscious about it. When something is on the back of your head, it's easy for people to notice it all the time. Plus, why would you want to cover up your new hair transplant with a ball cap just because of a scar? It defeats the purpose of getting the transplant to improve your hairline anyway.

In a FUE hair transplant procedure, which stands for follicular unit extraction, the surgeon takes out individual hair follicles for transportation to the spots on the scalp that need more hair. It’s a delicate process that requires extra care to perform. The advantage of FUE is that there isn’t a long scar to worry about that would need SMP scar repair or scar micropigmentation. SMP for hair transplant scars is only after a FUT hair transplant has been done, and not FUE.

The Scalp Micropigmentation Treatment Schedule

In looking at getting your hair transplant scar tattoo, the scalp micropigmentation is done over a few sessions. The end goal is to completely cover up a scalp scar that runs horizontally in the back of your head.

SMP for hair transplant scars works with a practitioner at Scalpmasters using a microneedle filled with dark pigment to replicate how the hair follicles look. The pigment is inserted into the scalp right over the FUT scarring to conceal it, and blend the rest of the scalp area for a more seamless look. That way there won’t be any visible gaps in the hairline where the strip of follicles was removed. All you’ll see is the concealment of the scar, looking like the rest of your hair. You may even say, what scar? The scalp micropigmentation tricks the eye into just seeing natural-looking hair coverage on the back of the head.

At Least Two-Three Sessions of Scalp Micropigmentation

In order to properly perform the scalp micropigmentation, at least two - three sessions will be needed to cover up the white scar and to blend the coloring on the back of the hair for a more optimal look. The series of dots is similar to the way a regular tattoo is put on the body, but with SMP scar repair, you’ll love how amazing your scalp looks after the process.

If you have questions about hair transplant scar cover up, our staff at Scalpmasters is more than happy to go over exactly how SMP for hair transplant scars works. But if you have been wondering if scalp micropigmentation will cover scars, then the answer is a resounding yes. Take charge of your appearance in the right way with a great-looking scalp that is all naturally you to cover unsightly scars.
